WHAT HAPPENED?
According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, PSG have all but secured the signature of Benfica sensation Joao Neves this summer. The 19-year-old midfielder is expected to travel to Paris in the next few days to complete the formalities and put pen to paper on a five-year deal.
Fabrizio Romano, meanwhile, says the deal is 'confirmed'.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Neves has been in demand this summer for multiple clubs after impressing for his club and national team Portugal in the 2023-24 campaign. For Benfica, the youngster appeared in 55 matches across all competitions where he scored thrice and provided two assists.

It was earlier reported that The Eagles were demanding a massive fee for their young star in the region of €100m (£84m), however, Hawkins claimed that the Ligue 1 giants are expected to pay a sum less than that.

After sealing Neves' transfer, Les Parisiens are now expected to go after Athletic Club and Spain star Nico Williams. While Barcelona remain a long-time admirer of the winger, it is believed that the French side will go all out for the 22-year-old.
